He is Maher bin Hamad bin Muaiqil Al-Muaiqly Al-Balawi, a Saudi Quran reciter and imam, born on Shawwal 18, 1388 AH (1948 AD) in Medina.
In addition to being a lecturer at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, Maher Al-Muaiqly served as the imam of the Abd al-Rahman al-Saadi Mosque in Mecca, then the Prophet's Mosque (1426-1427 AH). He later led the Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers during the holy month of Ramadan in 1428 AH (1948 AD) at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, where he has continued to serve as an official imam ever since.
