Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hosary Radio, narrated by Hafs

Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Hosary was born in Gharbia Governorate, Egypt, in 1917. He completed memorizing the Holy Quran at the age of eight.
Sheikh Al-Hosary is considered one of the most famous reciters of the Holy Quran in the last Hijri century. He is the founder of the Ahkam Al-Tilawa School and the first to record the Quran in his own voice reciting it on Egyptian radio in the early 1960s.
Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hosary was the first to record the Holy Quran recited in its various narrations (Hafs from Asim, Warsh from Nafi', Qalun, and Al-Duri). He was also the first to record the teaching and interpreted Qurans.
Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hosary passed away on Monday, November 24, 1980, at the age of 63.
